Mrs. Win Herbert wrote the inscription, her husband, Bert, worked for the Bonanza Gold Dredging Company owners of the dredge. This was an Allis Chalmers with 6. 5 cubic foot buckets, the only dredge the company owned. The machine, first started up in May, 1906, worked on ground near the mouth of the Klondike River until the 1909 season.
