It was first owned by guitarist Leonardo Monzo, who emigrated at age 18 from Spain, via Cuba, to Monterey, California. He was a regular performer along Cannery Row, made famous in the novel by John Steinbeck. Monzos wife worked in the canneries and gave her husband this new Martin in 1943.
