Note that semaglutide is very similar to GLP-1 and its mechanism of action is therefore limited to the activation of the receptor for this hormone, while tirzepatide is made up of an amalgam of amino acids found both in the GLP-1 (yellow circles), GIP (blue circles), and in the two hormones (green circles), which gives it a double agonist activity, capable of activating both receptors for these hormones
