How do the benefits of this medication compare to the theoretical risks in my situation

GLP-1 has beneficial effects for glucose homeostasis by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta-cells, delaying gastric emptying, decreasing plasma glucagon, reducing food intake, and stimulating glucose disposal

Consider reducing the insulin dose if the patient becomes NPO or if steroid doses are decreased

Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) are a type of medication originally developed to treat type 2 diabetes, but are now being used for the treatment of obesity because they are effective at helping people to lose weight
