Het album documenteert op bijzondere wijze de diepe muzikale band tussen de legendarische saxofonist fluitist en tablazer, samen met drummer Eric Harland, die het Sangam trio compleet maakt. Het album is opgebouwd rond studio opnames uit 2009 die bedoeld waren voor een album dat niet werd afgemaakt. Sangam & Friends bevat
